Occurrence: every week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday until December 30, 2020

Commitment Time:6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Volunteers Needed Per Shift: 7

Skills: creativity, Hospitality, Family, Organization, Flexibility, willingness, a friendly manner.

Our Activities program provides a much-needed lift to our guest families. Participating in activities helps alleviate stress and gives families the opportunity to spend time together outside of focusing on health issues.

Activity Examples

•Share musical abilities • Organize Game Night (board or video games, bingo) •Dance Demonstration •Host arts and Crafts activities •Host a Holiday Party • Educational or Instructional Activities (learn how to scrapbook, knit, fly a kite, etc.) •Host a karaoke night •Ice cream social (Offered Once Per Month. Check with coordinator for availability of scheduling this activity) •*Spa event treatments •*Massage Therapy, Yoga, Fitness and Meditation classes

*Activities that must be led by a licensed or certified professional willing to volunteer /donate their services

How to Plan for an Activity

•Volunteers provide the activity. If you would like to use our donated crafting materials or board games/bingo set, please let us know in advance. Any musical equipment, tape players, keyboards, microphones or props must be supplied by the person or group hosting the activity.

• Due to patient confidentiality issues, please refrain from taking photographs or videos during the visit.

•Create ways for children and family members, of all ages and abilities, to become actively engaged and involved in the activity.

•The activities must be well planned and have educational inspirational or entertainment value to our children and families.

•Please limit the number of volunteers in your group to 5-7 people. If there are children under age 16 in your group, there must be one adult to each 2-3 children.

•Remember, families are here to care for their sick children so we never know how many will attend an activity, but please don’t let this discourage you. You can expect anywhere between 2-15 participants for an activity and 10-35 for holiday parties or ice cream socials.

•Songs and activities should not include religious or political themes.

•We advertise activities to families. Please let us know what activity you will be hosting by 3:30 p.m. the Friday prior to your planned visit.
